about

Beyond Egypt, another civilization of pyramid builders were lost in time. Journey into the realms of the North American Mississippian peoples that inhabited and built a sprawling metropolis called "Cahokia." One of the first urban landscapes in the world that was home to 10,000s of people located in the Mid-Western United States near what is presently the city of St. Louis.

Cahokia is an enigma of sorts, as the true origin of the people and name of this city are unknown. These works are a series of meditations on the mystery and wonder of this fantastic place of pyramids and a sophisticated culture that predates western history. Thomas Jackson Park (Mystified) had this to say about the album:

"It is always a thrill to find music that actually engages my imagination. It has to have a sense of mystery, and also to be solid enough musically. "Cahokia" by Jack Hertz easily accomplishes both. Each piece explores a different facet of a sort of dream-analysis of an ancient civilization. As this civilization is mostly unknown to us, it may be through dreams that we can best explore it. The tracks do a great job of connoting early American landscapes, rendering a Mid-Western version of Australia's legendary "Dreamtime". Hertz's "Cahokia" showcases a mature talent, effectively capturing primal, ethereal spirits. Definitely recommended. Thanks for the great music!"
