about

On an endless quest for new ways to hear and see music. Aural Films presents "Noodles." A compilation project to document a unique method of music composition called, Noodles. Instead of writing a composition, artists create systems that generate the music.

What Are Noodles?

The project *loosely* follows the definitional in James Clark's book "Advanced Programming Techniques for Modular Synthesizers":

"Noodles refer to self-running patches that have some (hopefully interesting) temporal variation in the sound. Some noodles are melodic, some are extended "drones", where the variation is timbral in nature, and some are just plain weird."

How to Participate

The project is open anyone who's made their own noodle and wants to share it. We want to hear your ideas on the many ways this concept can be done. No limits on style, gear, process, complexity, or approach. They can be autonomous, live, interactive or generative. The only requirement is you have fun making your own noodles.

Submitting your Noodles to the project is easy. Just follow these guidelines to be included:

+ One noodle per artist.

+ Noodles should be between 10 and 25 minutes in length.

+ Save a WAV, FLAC or AIFF format file (200 MB max) for the compilation album.

+ Save a MP3 version for the Electro-music Radio stream.

+ Start a new reply post in the project topic on Electro-Music located at this link: electro-music.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=405345

+ Add your noodle title, artist name, and a link to your home page to the post.

+ Describe how you made you made your noodle.

+ Optionally, attach an image of the noodle setup.

+ Attach and upload all your audio files to your post and Submit it.

+ Periodically, we will check and upload the submissions from Electro-Music to the album page you are reading here.

That's all there is to it.

NOTE: There is no deadline. This is a living project that we will be adding tracks to on an ongoing basis as they are submitted.
