Andrew Green So many songs that create an amazing flow with everything thatKlaus, I'm sure, would be very proud of. From the very excellent start all the way through to the end creating a fitting tribute and a very respectful requiem. Well done to all involved and thanks for allowing us on this journey. Fantastic 🎧🎶🎧

Carsten Pieper Yeah, well, as the fellow Bandcampers said before me: WOW, just WOW! And what a mind blowing compilation. I haven't by far been able to listen to all the 11 plus hours of Klaus Schulze-inspired and dedicated Cosmic Music yet, but every bit I picked sounded great, so far.
A worthy farewell to one of the leading figures of electronic music and a big thank you to everyone involved!

RIP Klaus Favorite track: A Semblance of Schulze.

Favorite track? Seriously? There are 66 tracks in this mammoth, wonderful, unmissable and mind blowing compilation! 11 hours in a Schulzian key! Klaus IS very proud for being able to provoke such reconnaissance! That's a tribute!

Well done, Aural Films and all the artists involved! Thanks, Jack Hertz, for such a wonderful idea! Also thanks to Olaf Lux for your liner notes and devotion to Klaus's life and work!

And thank you SO much, my dear Klaus!!!

Mark Sullivan This thing is so long that I thought I would just be sampling a few tracks (there are at least two hours from artists I'm already a fan of). But I'm enjoying it so much that I have decided to go through the whole thing, 60-90 min at a time. Favorite track: Boddy Love.

about

Farewell Klaus

"At some point I’m sure I will retire – maybe in 2250? At which point, they will have to carry me out of this studio in a box!“ …

We all know this quote from Klaus from 2004, it was in every booklet of the re-releases of his back catalog. And each of us probably smiled and thought that it was rather unlikely that Klaus would live to be 303 years old - unfortunately.

Now it's 2022, and the box that comes out of the studio in the Lüneburg Heath is called DEUS ARRAKIS - no one would have guessed that it could actually contain Klaus Schulze's requiem. And when you realize that the last piece on Klaus' last album is called "Der Hauch des Lebens" (The Breath of Life) and fades away into silence at the end, not only spiritual people think of a kind of self- prophecy. DEUS ARRAKIS is a great, a worthy last album by Klaus - spherical, rhythmic, emotionally moving and full of depth and harmony. Klaus would say it is “floating”.

Many great musicians and artists have passed away recently, and more of our heroes will inevitably follow - that's life. It only strikes us more because we ourselves have grown older, and the artists of our youth are one by one approaching their twilight years.

Klaus lived to be 74 - not enough for this incredibly great, creative and lovable person... but enough to become immortal through his wonderful music. There is music that touches, that fascinates and uplifts you. Sometimes only for a summer, sometimes a little longer. And there is music that lasts. Forever? Well, definitely for 303 years. And I'm pretty sure, long after that...

Hello Klaus

Over a year ago, Jack Hertz approached me with the idea of following up his popular Klaus Schulze tribute compilation IN LOVE WITH THE MOON (2018) with a sequel. I suggested waiting a little longer and to focus on Klaus' upcoming 75th birthday. Jack thought it was a great idea - who could have guessed that Klaus would not live to see this anniversary?

What could be more natural now than to honor not only Klaus' birthday, but his whole life - that was the starting signal for REQUIEM. And once again, artists from all over the world came together in no time at all, ready to reignite the flickering flame of electronic music and shout one last musical hello" to Klaus.

Electronic sound experiments, expansive ambient atmospheres and meandering sequencer orgies alternate with contemporary chill-out rhythms and modern electronica excursions - there is no aspect of Klaus Schulze's music which is not paid tribute to, be it for 3:00 or even 30 minutes. It's alive, the Berlin School, even if its founding father has retired. And they have done their homework, the (partly not so) young rascals. Klaus' spirit lives on - in his music, in our memories and in the music of those he inspired.

And Klaus? He is probably sitting relaxed with Edgar, Conny, Hartmut, Rainer, Wolfgang, Pete, and Bob together in the celestial studio to “finally make a long piece"... may it be eternal.
